High heel shoes can make a regular old outfit into a striking statement of style. This classic of modern day beauty has become a staple for most of our wardrobes. However, high heel shoes are not for every outfit or for every occasion. If you choose your footwear wisely you can create a stellar look by adding this touch.

The first thing to remember is that every trend is not for every woman. Pointy toed high heel shoes are great for making legs look longer but if your legs are too thick they can actually work in reverse. The shoes will appear to be much smaller if a person who has heavy legs wears them.

The pointy toed high heel shoes may make the woman’s feet look disproportionately small for the rest of her and the whole ensemble will fall flat. Ladies with thick thighs and calves may want to skip this trend in high heel shoes.

Many people make their legs appear slimmer by choosing a wider design in high heel shoes but this has to be approached delicately as well. Footwear that is too stout may make the lady’s legs appear stout as well.

What ladies who want to lengthen their legs want to do is find a shoe that has the perfect balance. Big, clunky high heel shoes and pointy toes are just too extreme for some people. Trends are commonly designed for models. If you are not a model you may want to find something that is middle ground when it comes to popular fashion.

The best way to find the perfect balance is to shop for your age group. The Spiegel catalogue offers different designs for different age groups and the styles are stunning as well as age appropriate. You simply choose your decade and the fashions, including adorable high heel shoes, come pouring at you.

There are tons of choices and Spiegel is not the only manufacturer who is trying to appeal to women of all ages. You wouldn’t be caught dead in low rise jeans and a cut off shirt? Then maybe you shouldn’t sport spiky high heel shoes, either. Many women seem to forget that shoes are commonly age appropriate as well as the rest of the wardrobe.

I learned my lesson when I was teaching high school. I bought a trendy pair of high heel shoes that made my day in the classroom unbearable. Walking on the slick floors was dangerous and the noise that the high heel shoes made as I maneuvered ever so carefully down the hall almost seem to scream out that I am just too old for those shoes.
